The Physicians and Staff at Eye Physicians of the East Bay recognize that we all have a role to play in building trust and fellowship with the black and brown communities we serve. We focus daily not just on our words of support and condolence, but also through our actions when we strive to provide equal healthcare, educate, and advocate for our minority patients. We vow to relentlessly pursue these actions that will lead to necessary change in health equity and beyond.

We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We cherish our community which is home to people from a wide variety of ethnic, racial, national and religious backgrounds. We also recognize and respect the differences among groups of people and individuals based on their gender and sexual orientation. We take seriously our obligation to protect the health and wellness of our community through promoting access to quality medical care for all, and we accept our responsibility to work toward identifying and eliminating discriminatory behavior and attitudes.

We at Eye Physicians of the East Bay stand together to challenge the systems of oppression, injustice, and racism that manifest time and time again into illness, poverty, lack of opportunity, and violence. We will not tolerate racism, aggression, or harassment toward our patients, staff, or community.

Welcome Patients. We are Open.

Dear Patients,

As we strive to provide our community with excellence in eye care, we are taking the necessary precautions to ensure the health, safety and well-being of our patients, staff and doctors.   As we embark on a phased re-entry to a new “normal” in delivering care to our patients, we are enhancing our existing safety protocols with the following Federal (CDC) and State guidelines for safety:

  • COVID-19 screening questions will be asked during appointment scheduling and check-in.

  • All patients must wear masks during their visits.

  • Temperature checks will be performed upon arrival.

  • Exams rooms and testing equipment will be sanitized before and after each patient.

  • No guests will be permitted to accompany patients, unless the patients need assistance. Loved ones can participate in the visit discussion with the doctor via cell phone.

  • If you require medical technician guided testing, you will be roomed immediately upon check-in, tested, and checked-out expeditiously.Patients will then participate in a video or telemedicine visit with the physician at a separate date and time.

We are also excited to inform our valued patients that our office will soon implement mobile check-in, registration and payments to aide in maintaining physical distancing as well as minimized wait times.  Please be sure to provide us with your cell phone number and email the next time you contact our office.

We value your choice to seek care at our offices and look forward to serving you in a safe and caring environment in a professional and expeditious manner. If you have any questions, please call our office and a staff member will be happy to assist you.

Wishing you health and wellness.

Welcome to Eye Physicians of the East Bay!

Thank you for visiting the website of Eye Physicians of the East Bay, a leader in comprehensive eye care in Oakland and Lafayette, California! We realize that every patient who comes to our office entrusts us with one of the most precious things in their life: their sight. We never take this trust for granted, and we treat each patient as we would want any member of our own families treated.

Michael L. Wang, M.D., F.A.C.S.; Steven G. Pascal, M.D.; and Jane V. Loman, M.D. have decades of experience in comprehensive medical and surgical eye care. In fact, a large percentage of the doctors and nurses in the East Bay medical community choose us for their own eye care and refer their patients, friends and family to our practice.

We are dedicated to providing the highest level of care to each and every patient, regardless of their circumstances or how complicated their case may be. We have the most advanced diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical technology that exists in all of ophthalmology. Laser-assisted, small incision cataract surgery with refractive correction and advanced, micro-invasive glaucoma surgery are two examples of state-of-the-art surgical techniques that we routinely use to preserve and restore vision for our patients.

Our physicians also have many years of experience in prescribing eyeglasses or contact lenses to their patients in order to improve their eyesight. To see if you can benefit from glasses or lenses, schedule an appointment for an eye exam today!

We appreciate the trust you have placed in us. Your eyesight is a precious gift; at Eye Physicians of the East Bay, Your Vision is Our Focus.
